After one week of really good football, this week should be pretty good too. There should be good games for everyone to watch all day on Sunday. It should also be interesting to see how good teams that lost last weekend will bounce back and if the winning teams are actually as good as they looked.
New York Jets @ Buffalo Bills
The Jets looked really good defensively last week when they sacked Andy Dalton seven times. Tyrod Taylor is more mobile than that, but they should be able to get to him a few times because Buffalo’s starting left tackle, Cordy Glenn, has been ruled out for the game. The Bills are going to have to rely on LeSean McCoy if they want to have any chance at winning this game. Matt Forte should be able to break off a few good runs and open up the passing game for Ryan Fitzpatrick and allow big games for Brandon Marshall and Erick Decker. Look for the Jets to take advantage of a week Bills team and win their first game of the season.
NYJ 24 – 10 BUF
Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers
This has the chance to be the game of the week, that could have division implications at the end of the season. Andy Dalton got hit a lot last weekend against the Jets, but is facing a defensive front that isn’t quite as frightening. AJ Green should be able to burn the weak Pittsburgh secondary and make a difference in this game. Pittsburgh looked really good last week as well, and has one of the scariest offensive units in the league. Antonio Brown has certainly taken Calvin Johnson’s “Best Receiver in the NFL” title and is going to be hard for anyone to stop. DeAngelo Williams looked really good as well, thanks to the fear of Antonio Brown. They should be able to take advantage of the Cincinnati defense and lead this team to a big win.
CIN 27 – 28 PIT
Tennessee Titans @ Detroit Lions
The Titans looked really bad on Sunday against the Vikings. They gave up three key turnovers, but performed admirably on defense. They held Adrian Peterson to 31 yards in 19 carries. They were playing against a Shaun Hill lead team, but they won’t have that luxury this week against Detroit. Matthew Stafford looked good against the Colts and was able to get the ball around to all of his weapons. He should be able to do the same this week as the Lions win pretty easily.
TEN 17 – 27 DET
Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns
The Ravens looked good against a bad Buffalo team last week and is facing an even worse Cleveland team this week. Joe Flacco is back and should be able to dominate the Browns defense with Steve Smith and Justin Forsett. Cleveland got beat by Philadelphia pretty convincingly and lost Robert Griffin in the process. Josh McCown should be able to get the ball out to Coleman and Pryor, but it won’t be enough to overcome the Ravens.
BAL 24 – 10 CLE
Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Redskins
The Dallas Cowboys looked good for the most part against the Giants, but the Redskins looked bad against the Steelers. Dak Prescott had a good game, but couldn’t get Dez Bryant involved. Bryant is going against Josh Norman again and Bryant was pretty much shut down when they matched up last season. Ezekiell Elliott did not look like the number four pick, but he should be able to do better against a weaker defensive line. Kirk Cousins should be able to find his receivers against the Cowboys secondary, but it won’t be enough for the win.
DAL 23 – 21 WAS
New Orleans Saints @ New York Giants
This game last season was an exciting offensive shootout last season. Drew Brees can still sling the ball around to all of his targets. Eli Manning has two weapons that he didn’t have last season in Sterling Sheppard and Victor Cruz. Both of them looked to be effective against the Cowboys and should be even better this week. The Giants were also able to run the ball effectively last week and should be able to control the ball a little bit better this week. This should be another high scoring game, but the Saints will come out on top.
NO 37 – 34 NYG
San Francisco 49ers @ Carolina Panthers
The Panthers underperformed in the season opener, and some think that the 49ers over performed on Monday night. San Francisco was able to stop Case Keenum, Todd Gurley and all of the Los Angeles offense, but Carolina is a lot better. Cam Newton should be able to take advantage of the San Francisco defense and allow Jonathan Stewart to have a good game. The Panthers defense should be able to force Blaine Gabbert to make some mistakes and lead them to a decisive victory.
SF 17 – 30 CAR
Miami Dolphins @ New England Patriots
Both of these teams looked pretty good last week, but New England looked like the best team in the NFL without their two best players. The Dolphins defensive front looks to be really good and should be able to beat up on Jimmy Garoppolo a little bit. The Patriot defense is really good though and should be able to take advantage of the Dolphins offense a bit. If Rob Gronkowski is going to play then New England should be able to win convincingly and if he doesn’t then they should still win, but it will be a closer game.
MIA 6 – 20 NE
Kansas City Chiefs @ Houston Texans
This should be one of the better matchups of the week. Kansas City had to battle back last Sunday from a large deficit to comeback and win against the Chargers in overtime. Spencer Ware looked good in Jamaal Charles’ absence and Alex Smith was able to play really well also. They have a tougher challenge this week when they face the JJ Watt led defense. The Texans held Chicago to only 14 points on their way to a win. Houston did score 23 points in their win last week, but the Kansas City defense is significantly better than Chicago’s and should lead them to victory.
KC 17 – 14 HOU
Seattle Seahawks @ Los Angeles Rams
Seattle seemed to continue their trend of starting slow at the beginning of the season as they barely beat Miami last week. Los Angeles looked a lot like they did when they were still in St. Louis, possibly even worse. Anytime a team is shutout and allows 28 points, there is trouble. With that said, the Rams have given the Seahawks some trouble in the last two seasons, as the Rams have won three of their last four encounters. This is mostly because the Rams defensive line is one of the best and the Seahawks offensive line is one of the worst in the league. This matchup might hinge on the health of Russell Wilson. It seems like Wilson should play and even if he is hampered, their defense should be able to take care of Case Keenum and the Rams.
SEA 17 – 10 LA
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Arizona Cardinals
Tampa Bay seems to be a dark horse in the NFC and will have a big challenge this week in the form of the Cardinals. Arizona was caught off guard last week by a hindered New England team, but this team is too talented to lose like that again. Their secondary is one of the best in the league and should give Jameis Winston some serious problems. David Johnson should have a big game this week and lead the Cardinals to their first win of the season in a good matchup.
TB 21 – 24 ARI
Jacksonville Jaguars @ San Diego Chargers
Jacksonville and San Diego both looked good last week. Jacksonville’s defense held Aaron Rodgers to 199 passing yards and has another good quarterback this week against Philip Rivers. Rivers will have the challenge of facing this defense without his number one target, Keenan Allen. Melvin Gordon needs to have another good week if the Chargers stand a chance at winning. The Charger defense will have some trouble with Blake Bortles and the Jaguar offense. They allowed Alex Smith to throw for 363 yards and Bortles has a bigger arm and more weapons to play with. Jacksonville should be able to win this game in a fairly good game.
JAX 31 – 24 SD
Atlanta Falcons @ Oakland Raiders
The Falcons aren’t a very good team beyond Julio Jones and they showed that last week against a team with an average defense. Jameis Winston was able to pick them apart and give their team the win, and Derrick Carr should be able to do the same. Amari Cooper and the Raider running attack should be able to have a big game against the Falcon defense. The Falcons will also have some problems with the Raider defense and Khalil Mack should have a monstrous game to help the Raiders win without a last minute two-point conversion.
ATL 17 – 24 OAK
Indianapolis Colts @ Denver Broncos
Andrew Luck looked like his old self last week, unfortunately, the rest of the Colts didn’t. They face the challenge of going up against one of the best defenses in the league when they travel to Denver this weekend. The Broncos were able to come out of the Super Bowl 50 rematch with a win thanks mostly to their defense and running attack. CJ Anderson was able to torch the Carolina defense and should be able to do the same to the Colts. Denver also had more time to rest and prepare and should cause them to win this game at home.
IND 14 – 21 DEN
Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings
This is another intriguing matchup between two really good teams. Aaron Rodgers showed last week that he is still the best quarterback in the NFL against an above average Jaguars defense, but has a huge challenge against the Minnesota defense. Their defense scored two touchdowns on three turnovers last week and will look to hold Rodgers down this week. The Vikings will need to get Adrian Peterson going if they have any chance at making some noise against the Packers this week. Ultimately, the Packers should win in a close low scoring game.
GB 17 – 14 MIN
Philadelphia Eagles @ Chicago Bears
The Eagles beat up on the Browns last week and get another easy opponent on Monday against the Chicago Bears. Chicago certainly has a better offense than the Browns and will need to capitalize on the opportunities presented by the Eagles. Carson Wentz will have a good second game as he gets more adjusted to the NFL against another subpar defense. This should be a rather high scoring game with the Bears barely coming out on top at home because of their extra weapons offensively.
PHI 26 – 27 CHI
